LLAJ Word Sprint

What is Word Sprint
The objective of Word Sprint is for authors to have their work publicly evaluated and rewarded by peers and other interested parties from around the world. The judging process is transparent and can be dynamically followed on the internet .

How will Word Sprint be conducted?

  • Authors will submit their work (fiction, essays, poetry) for the month for which they want to compete through the LLAJ web site. To make a submission, authors must be registered users of the website.
  • Submissions made for a particular month are voted the next month.
  • Voting is done online through a sophisticated one-click process which ensures that a voter can only cast one vote .
  • At the end of the voting period, the five most popular submissions are again voted by a random panel of judges selected from amongst registered writers , to produce the final winner for the month.
  • For the annual prize , all the finalists for the months competed for in the year are again put up for voting to select the best of the best.
  • Only ONE submission (poetry, fiction or essay) may be made by any author for any single month

    • Who may participate?
    LLAJ Word Sprint is open to writers from all over the world . This is to maintain a high quality of submissions. It will however be the policy for the first 12 months of the competition to include at least one Nigerian submission in the monthly shortlist.

    How do you make a submission?
    No fees are charged for submissions; this competition is completely free. Submissions will however only be permitted through the LLAJ web site. For this the author must first be registered as a user, then must login before submitting to Word Sprint. This process is important because it not only ensure submission into the right month competition, but also permits the author to vote.

    How reliable is the voting process ?
    The registration, submission and voting process are monitored by a sophisticated mechanism which filters out fake accounts and ensures that only one vote is cast by any user in any given month. The registration process takes only a few minutes

    What is the value of the prizes?
    There will be a minimum prize for the monthly and annual competitions, both of which will be dependant on the amount available in the sponsorship purse. The prize will be announced every month . The greatest prize to the winner will be the prestige of having their work read and evaluated by persons from all over the world.

    When will Word Sprint begin?
    June 2010
