August WordSprint Result

The last WordSprint was another learning experience. A few issues were encountered :

1. Primarily there were voting problems with many voters voting on front page items.This made it necessary to extend the voting period.

2. Again from the voting pattern it was clear that people actually voted without reading what they were voting for.This is against the objective of the contest and consequently the voting badge will not be available in the teasers anymore but only on the full text page.If friends are voting for you, also ask them to do you the extra favor and be kind enough to read what you have submitted and also post a comment.

3. Some of the entries were too long and so badly formatted as to be almost unreadable, but still got many votes. We will be introducing a maximum word length of 1,500 words for subsequent contests

Nevertheless a winner needs to be announced . For reason that most contestants did not completely understand the rules of the contest, we have again this time only used number of votes . This will change from next episode and highest votes will still be subjected to editorial appraisal both on quality and activity on basis of number of comments. At this time and at all times the winner may not appear to be the best entry; but remember in this contest YOU primarily choose the winner - with your vote or by not voting !

Therefore we should have announced a winner of the August WordSprint, however we have decided to cancel the result on this occasion as the voting pattern and result were quite irregular. The entry most affected has also been deleted from this site.
