Pain

BailyAbonce's picture

The pain and the cold surrounded her, causing her to stumble through the darkness as she made her way towards the light. The light flickered in the distance, teasing her, threatening to turn off. She shivered, pressing her hand against the wall to help her stay steady. Blood made small puddles on the cold ground beneath her. The blood gushed from a large open wound in her side. She could hear screams in the distance, echoing down the hall towards her. She forced back the tears as she continue to stumble towards the light. Her dress was torn, exposing her bare chest to the cold. Blood was smeared over her body, mostly across her chest and stomach. She could smell the blood, feel the warm liquid move down her body, soaking in to her clothes and dripping on to her feet. She could feel the blood draining from her body, her breathing becoming shallow.

Panic filled her mind as she leaned against the wall, tears clouding her vision. She had to make it to the light. The light would surely help her find her way. She pushed herself away from the wall, using one hand to keep herself steady as she made her way towards the light. It flickered again, but staying dim. She began to cry, trying to speed up as she clutched the wound on her side. She felt warm breathe against her neck and she stopped. "W-who's there?" she called out, her voice shaking with fear. There was no reply. She continued on her way, the light flickering once more.

She became lightheaded, stopping to lean against the wall. She closed her eyes and slowly slid down the wall to sit on the ground. Her blood formed a puddle around her, slowly soaking in to her clothing. She shivered, her body quickly losing warmth. She felt the breathe against her skin again and she opened her eyes. The light flickered several times, becoming dimmer after each flicker before finally dying. The darkness consumed the room, leaving spots in her vision. She felt an arm slid around her waist and lift her up. She felt the breathe against her neck again as her eyes closed. She shivered, her breathing fading. She could feel herself being carried as she lost consciousness.
