Room 666

darolina18's picture

Dark clouds were covering the once clear blue sky ,while the white and blue lights form Clark’s motel sign were blinking in an unusually fast pace: Blink-Blink-Blink-Blink-Blink—all in two seconds. Then, the lights lost power and abruptly switched off. It was pitch dark now and silence was heard everywhere. Five minutes or so must have passed, but that was not relevant: in this period, time was forgotten, abandoned for a much vital issue: survival.

Out of the bushes jumped a brown squirrel, screeching fiercely at God knows what. The noise was intolerable; a suffocating, deathly sensation attacked anyone who was capable of hearing. The squirrel’s face was not visible yet; then, the animal turned, feeling very unstable. One could see its face, and the most disturbing element were the eyes: there, replacing its black, marble-like squirrel eyes, were sharp, crimson, sinful eyes.
Next, a dark, hooded figure approached the shocking site (where the squirrel was now pacing impatiently, as if searching for something). In the clear moonlight, one could tell that it was a tall man. He didn’t linger at the site, in fact, he barely noticed the creature and smirked. He didn’t walk long either, his destination was right across the street: Clark’s motel, room 666. His footsteps made a cracking sound in the bitter silence. As he passed room 600, he heard another painful screech from the squirrel. Then, nothing: the squirrel was dead silent. At last, the man came to a halt. Room 666. As he opened the door, a sudden gust of wind burst out of nowhere, causing a mess inside the room where papers flew from wall to wall. Immediately, he shut the door, and as he did, a sheet of paper landed on his feet. He picked it up and noticed that it had writing on it. It was a letter:

“To any human who finds this, I am ALLIES, the only known survivor to this epidemic caused by supernatural creatures. I have survived due to the fact that I am deaf, and since this disease is transmitted by hearing, I am immune. THEY are after me. I recently discovered that they know where I reside, but my identity is still unknown. Do not go out after 6:00 pm and don’t trust—“
He didn’t finish, instead he ripped the letter apart. Rage and fury had confined his body and mind; and as he walked out, a furious glare appeared on the red, brutal monster eyes….
