Lagos Literary and Arts Journal publishes all genres of creative writing – including but not limited to poetry, fiction, essay, memoir , drama; political essays, satire, profiles, book reviews, anything to stimulate public interest in reading and writing. As much as possible please keep the length of all submissions below 2500 words.
ONLINE JOURNAL
All work for publishing on the web site should be submitted online . Do also take the time to complete your online personal profile form so that your readers and other publishers can track your submissions and contact you if necessary.
There are presently five online categories and you should ensure that you submit into the right category.
WORD Category : This is for short fiction, essays and poetry , The general rule is that you should observe a sense of decency in all submissions. In addition your submission is subject to editorial approval primarily to ensure quality and to assist you improve your writing . If you don't see your submission online two weeks after submission that means that it unfortunately has not been successful. Do not be afraid to make another submission though.

ARTS PEOPLE Category : Have you interviewed or written an interesting article on a rising star - author, poet,musician, actor, dramatist, artist... any arts people ? It may even be a book, film or music. The world will like to know !

PERFORMED WORKS Category: You can have your performed poetry and short plays featured here. First however you must upload your mp3 file to an audio podcasting site and then come back here to share a link. We suggest Podomatic (www.podomatic.com) or Podcast Alley (www.podcastalley.com) .

VIDEO Category : As in the performed works category, you can also have your videos featured here. First you must upload it to YouTube or similar site and then come back here to share a link.

WORDSPRINT
We run a quarterly competition which carries a single prize of $100 . The best five entries will also get published in the quarterly print journal. Submissions are typically in the essay, fiction and poetry genres. Because the free submission has been much abused in the past, a situation which had resulted in editors being overwhelmed with poor quality work we have introduced a submission fee of $5 per submission (Local entries N500 ). No correspondences will be entertained from authors of submitted entries. The decision of editors on winning entries will be final.

PRINT JOURNAL
To have your work considered for publishing in the print journal you will have had at least five accepted online submissions .Submissions should be made to editor@lagosliteraryjournal.com with your name, email address and phone number so we can contact you if you're work is accepted, also include a brief bio for us to post alongside your submission. Send all manuscripts as attached PDF files or Word Documents labeled manuscript and the author's name.
A Note About Submissions for Print Journal:
We are generally unable to pay contributors at this time.
